About Seventide

What does Seventide do?

Seventide helps a family look after an older relative’s money and paperwork in one shared place. You can keep a record of gifts, care costs, bank balances, health notes for NHS Continuing Healthcare, decisions made by attorneys and important documents.

It does the sums for you using the published rules (for example, how much of this year’s gift allowance is left, or when savings may fall to the level where the council helps with care fees) and it reminds you when something is due.

Is Seventide financial or legal advice?

No. Seventide shows figures and explains the rules in plain English, but it does not tell you what to do. Every calculation is based on what you enter and the published rules, and it is not advice.

For decisions about trusts, annuities, investments, selling a home or equity release, speak to a qualified, regulated specialist. Seventide explains which kind of specialist to look for.

Can Seventide move money or make payments?

No. Seventide never moves money, makes payments or changes anything at a bank. It only keeps a record of what you enter or import.

Do I need a Lasting Power of Attorney to use it?

No. Many families start while their parent still manages their own money, so the gift records begin early, with the parent’s consent. If you hold a Lasting Power of Attorney or a deputyship order, you can record it and use the attorney records too.

Which parts of the UK does it cover?

Inheritance Tax rules are the same across the UK. Care funding rules differ between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and Seventide uses the rules for the nation your parent lives in. Where a part of the app has not yet been fully adapted for a nation, it says so clearly.

How do I know the rules are up to date?

Each figure Seventide uses shows the tax year it applies to and the date it was last checked against the official sources. When the rules change, an update is published straight away. Your device checks the update’s digital signature so you know it really came from Seventide.

Privacy and security

Who can see what?

The person who set up the family workspace (the owner) decides who joins and what each person can see. Attorneys and the person the workspace is about can see everything. Other family members and professionals only see the areas the owner shares with them, such as health notes or documents.

If someone cannot see an area, Seventide hides it completely, so they will not know it contains anything. Every change is recorded in the activity log.

How is our information kept safe?

Each family’s information is encrypted with its own key before it is stored, and documents are encrypted before they are uploaded. Everything is held in data centres in the UK.

Download links only work for a few minutes and only for the person who asked for them. You can add a passkey or an authenticator app for extra protection and sign out of other devices at any time.

What do reminders and notifications say?

Emails and phone notifications never include names, amounts or health details. They only say something like “Seventide: 1 item needs attention”. You see the details after you sign in.

How do I download or delete everything?

In the app, go to More, then Your data. A full download gives you a ZIP file with all your records and the original documents, and it works even when the workspace is read-only.

The owner can delete the whole family workspace from the same page. Seventide deletes every record and document and destroys the workspace’s encryption key. Encrypted disaster-recovery backups are deleted automatically within 35 days, and you get a deletion certificate when it is done. Anyone can also delete their own account.

Free trial and subscription

How much does it cost?

The Family plan is £5.99 a month or £59.99 a year, for up to five family members plus your parent. After a death, you can move to the Archive plan at £1.99 a month to keep a read-only record while the estate is settled. See pricing.

What happens when the free trial ends?

If you have not subscribed, the workspace becomes read-only. Nothing is deleted: everyone can still see every record, and you can still download all your information or delete it. You cannot add new entries or create packs until someone subscribes.

Can we cancel?

Yes, at any time from the Subscription page. Your records stay available to view, download or delete.

Using Seventide

Is there an app to install?

Seventide works in any up-to-date web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. On most phones you can add it to your home screen from the browser menu so it opens like an app.

Can I use it without an internet connection?

Partly. Once you have opened Seventide on a device, it will open without a connection. You can add health diary entries, gifts and transactions while offline; they are saved on the device and sent when you are back online.

Can I make the text bigger?

Yes. In the app, go to More and choose “Text size and colours”. You can make text up to twice as big and switch to dark or high-contrast colours. Seventide also works with screen readers such as VoiceOver, TalkBack, NVDA and JAWS.

Can I import bank statements?

Yes. Download a CSV statement from online banking and import it. Seventide recognises layouts from Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Nationwide, Santander, Monzo and Starling, works with most others, removes duplicates and remembers how you categorise payments.
